Underinsured Motorist Protection Claims (UMP)

If you are seriously injured by a motorist in B.C., whose coverage is not sufficient to cover your damages, then there is something called underinsured motorist protection (UMP) that would cover you for up to $ 1 million dollars. Such coverage is part of your own basic autoplan policy.

This would cover you as a driver, passenger, pedestrian, or cyclist. The coverage is also available for members of your household when you own or lease a vehicle, and includes up to $ 1 million dollars per person.

Excess underinsured motorist protection is also available for up to $2 million per person, which many people have.
